Freshman Timeline
Meet with your counselor to discuss your future plans and review your four-year plan.
- Get off to a good start with your grades. The grades you earn in ninth grade will be included in you final high school GPA.
- College might seem a long way off now, but grades really do count toward college admission and scholarships.
- Explore your interests and possible careers. Take advantage of advisory activities.
- Get involved! Join a club, sports team, or other extracurricular activity…or volunteer!
- Talk to your parents about planning for college expenses. Continue or begin a savings plan for college.
- Look at the college information available in the guidance office, school, and public library. Use the internet to check out college websites.
- Investigate summer enrichment programs.
A few extra tips:
1. Your future is important and requires a plan!
2. Set personal expectations and goals.
3. Develop steps to achieve those goals.
4. Identify your strengths and weaknesses.
5. Evaluate your interests, skills, abilities, and values.
6. Gather as much information as possible on careers and colleges (see your
counselor for help).
7. Do not hesitate to ask for some guidance!
