Freshmen Field Trip “Shaping Landscapes”

Mrs. Ransom and Mr. Stannard took all of our Freshmen, in the course of two days, on a geology field trip to the Camarra Slate Quarry in Fair Haven and The Carving Studio and former Vermont Marble Company property in West Rutland. Students are studying how water, bedrock geology and people shape our landscape. Students were able to learn about art and  the characteristics of marble with the Artist in residence, who is working on a new Sculpture for Rutland. Any student on Thursday’s trip who wanted, was able to try their hand and hammer and chisel on the sculpture.
