HOLA RHS!!!   Each day for a month- Rutland High School will be celebrating  Hispanic Heritage Month by giving you many interesting FACTS about Hispanic Culture
1) The percentage of Hispanic Americans who are of Mexican descent in 2015. 10% are of Puerto Rican background, 4% Cuban, 4% Salvadoran, 3% Dominican and 2% Guatemalan. The remaining 16% are from Central America, South America and other Hispanic origins.
2)The U.S Hispanic population now stands at 57 million. The second fastest growing ethnicity group in the states.


Sophomores – Remember to turn your permission slips for Sophomore Summit into the guidance office ASAP!  🙂


Message from the Cafeteria:  As of today, all Free and Reduced Applications have expired.  If you have not turned in a new application for this year, you will be listed as Paid Status.  Please submit an application ASAP.  Students are responsible for all charges accrued during this time.

NHS will tutoring students during Flex in English, Math, Science, History, and World Language. Tutoring will take place Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Teachers, please sign students up for Red 17


Students – Please remember to check your email daily.  Teachers and counselors will be using email accounts even more than last year to communicate with you.  It is vitally important that you check email daily!



The RHS Fall Choral Concert is today, Tuesday, October 3, at 7pm in the RHS Theater.  Malestroms, Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Choir will perform Tuesday evening.  Admission is free.


ATTENTION MUSICIANS: Tri-M applications are due, today. You may give them to Mr. Barnett. Thank you.


The RHS Malestroms will meet in the Choral Room on Thursdays at 3:15.  All boys who want to sing are welcome to join the Malestroms.



-3D Vermont has been rescheduled to Friday October 6th during FLEX in White 17.

-Book club meets Thursdays after school in the library. Stop by the library for a copy of the current book.

-GMTI meetings will be Tuesdays during Flex

-Art Club is offered every Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30 in Creative Structure.

-Environmental Club meeting Tuesdays at  7:15 a.m. in Lab 1 new members welcome

The Booster Club Meeting is scheduled for today  10/3/17 at 6:30 PM in Red 11:   The Booster Club is planning for the Vt State Football Championship games . Will need lots of volunteers both for planning and game day (Nov 11). Hope to see you at the meeting!

Its time for some EPIC Fall Fun!
Take a trip on Thursday, October 5, to explore the corn maze. Transportation is provided and entrance is free.  
Stay tuned, on October 11 we will go apple picking.

Juniors and Seniors:

Juniors – If you would like to take the PSAT (Pre-SAT) you can take it on October 11th at RHS from 7:45-11:30am.  The cost is $25.00.  We have a limited number of tests available.  They will be available on a first come, first serve basis.   Please bring cash or check to Mrs. Carpenter.   She will give you a practice book and reserve a test for you.  
Due to the fact that we need to hold a pre-registration session on October 6th during FLEX,  we will stop selling books on October 5th.  No exceptions.  All students must be pre registered prior to taking the test.

PSAT – October 11,  7:45-11:30

Last day to purchase is October 5th – No exceptions

Bernie Sanders is sponsoring a college fair at Castleton University in partnership with the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation on October 14th. This is an opportunity for students and their families to learn about college opportunities right here in Vermont, as well as the financial aid options that may be available. There will even be access to computer labs to learn more about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and assistance with completion.  Please see the attached letter for more information.

Students who are preparing for the next round of SAT and ACT Tests, the Guidance Department has received the 2017-2018 practice booklets.  Stop by the Guidance Office and pick up a copy.

Students are asked to get in the habit of checking your school email for messages from the Guidance Department.
