RHS Invited to Global Education Conference

Adam Rosenberg and the Fellows of the Salzburg Global Seminar

Adam Rosenberg, English teacher and School Improvement Coach at Rutland High School, was invited to participate in the Salzburg Global Seminar session, “Optimizing Talent: Closing Educational and Social Mobility Gaps Worldwide.” This session brought together “sixty established and emerging leaders in the field, from various backgrounds and cultures, educational researchers, policy makers, and advocates from around the world.” Their goal was  ”to produce a set of policy recommendations and to establish a worldwide network of advocates committed to closing educational and social-mobility gaps.”

As School Improvement Coach, Mr. Rosenberg has been assisting in facilitating Rutland High School’s own efforts to help all students meet academic standards, including the implementation of two major approaches advocated in a Salzburg Global Seminar preliminary session document: a teacher learning community system, and meaningful professional development that targets pedagogy rather than course content. This is part of Rutland High School’s current transformative initiative to make teaching more collaborative and results-focused, and make learning more engaging and relevant for students. Adam is also the recipient of a 2010 Rowland Fellowship, to which he focused his school improvement work.

Founded in 1947 to help cement the peace and reconstruction of post-war Europe, the Salzburg Global Seminar now serves as a facilitator of new learning and as a developer of human capital and leadership worldwide. From the SGS website: “The Salzburg Global Seminar is a unique international institution focused on global change – a place dedicated to candid dialogue, fresh thinking and the search for innovative but practical solutions. Founded in 1947, it challenges current and future leaders to develop creative ideas for solving global problems, and has brought more than 25,000 participants from 150 countries and regions to take part in its programs. The Salzburg Global Seminar convenes imaginative thinkers from different cultures and institutions, organizes problem-focused initiatives, supports leadership development, and engages opinion-makers through active communication networks, all in partnership with leading institutions from around the world and across different sectors of society.”
