Science Department Goals
1) To extract meaningful facts/concepts/ideas/data/trends from text
2) To be able to interpret graphs/visuals
3) To be able to summarize the reading
4) To be able to organize and present ideas in a coherent scientific manner
5) To articulate ideas clearly and with appropriate scientific vocabulary
6) To know how to use evidence to support his/her writing
7) By constructing and interpreting graphs and tables from data
8) To demonstrate problem solving
9) To be able to evaluate sources for relevance, validity, and point of view
10) To use a variety of sources
11) To locate and organize relevant source material
12) To complete required research papers and science projects
13) To practice academic integrity, including proper citation
14) To conduct experiments utilizing the scientific method
15) To be able to organize and present results in a coherent oral format incorporating a
variety of mediums such as but not limited to computer, audio, video, graphic
16) To use technology to create, to problem solve, and to work collaboratively
17) To be familiar with what technology can do as it applies to science
18) To use technology to research and evaluate information
