The course description follows:
Multimedia Journalism
This class offers students the opportunity to study communications beyond traditional forms. Students will learn to develop critical thinking skills and to present their ideas in a variety of media, including web and traditional print articles, blogs and photojournalism. They will also learn to pitch story ideas, investigate leads, conduct interviews, organize information, and write, revise and edit publishable work. Students will have the option to create news stories, book and movie reviews, sports articles, editorials, human interest stories, or feature articles. The class will also study the effects of new forms of media, such as texting, Facebook, and Twitter, and learn ways to become better critics of the media. Students will have the opportunity to contribute their pieces to the school newspaper, the Red and White, as well as the school’s website.
