For All Students:

 

YES PLAN ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-Important announcement for all students enrolled in Exploring the Historical Landscapes of Vermont, otherwise known as Day Hikes.  There will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 23, during Flex block in Red 16.  Permission forms will be distributed.  Students who do not have these forms completed and signed for the first day of YES plan will receive an unexcused absence.  If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Ms. Geisler, Ms. Mahar, Mr. Tuerk or Mr. French for the paperwork.  

-Any student who has not seen Mrs. Renfrow in White 16 regarding school to work paperwork, please do so immediately including the following:

Calling all Vermont young artists for their best summer ever!
Any enthusiastic Vermont 9th-11th grader is invited to join the Governor’s Institutes of Vermont for the summer of a lifetime! Our summer Institutes give talented students the chance to immerse themselves in a topic they love, make new friends from all over the state, and experience life on a college campus. Plus, it’s tons of fun!
If you love the arts–visual, performing, or otherwise!–then one of our limited remaining spots in our Arts Institute could be for you. At the Arts Institute, you will sing, dance, sculpt, draw, write, act, compose, and more. Whatever your art form, you’ll grow as an artist through immersion in creativity, collaboration with professional artists, and looking at the world in new and inspiring ways. Join us at GIV and become part of a passionate learning community of people just like you!

The Carving Studio is looking for students to participate in their annual “Stone Bench Project”. This excellent course is completely free and a great way to learn how to carve stone for two weeks this summer. Please contact Mr. Spafford if you are interested.

 

Q3 Pottery students, please claim your work before Friday, May 19.

 

PROJECT GRADUATION – We need help from SENIOR PARENTS with donations, prizes and food to make the Project Graduation event a success on June 15th. Please join us at the next meeting on May 18th at 6pm in Red 11.

 

Prom:

Guest contracts are due by Thursday to Mr. Sampson for any RHS student bringing a non RHS guest to prom

This year’s Junior/Senior Prom is Saturday, May 20th, 2017, at the Killington Grand Hotel, from 8pm – 12am.

Vibe Portrait Art will be present for individual and couples portraits beginning at 7:30pm, and throughout the night, information attached for pictures

This year’s Prom features DJ Vince 1. Tickets will be sold during both lunches during the 2 weeks leading up to the event as well as during Flex Block.

Tickets are $25 per person, $40 per couple. Proceeds benefit the Junior and Senior classes.

Checks may be made out to RHS

Guest contracts may be obtained in the Main Office.

Light snacks will be served late night.

This is a formal event. The theme is Red Carpet.

 

FINE ARTS:

The RHS Music Department will present the Spring Band Concert on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the RHS Gym.  Come hear some awesome music from the Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band!

CLUBS:

-The Feminism Club is holding a Red Talk Presentation featuring Women’s Rights Activist Educator, Mr. Kevin Kareckas of Lyndon State College. The red talk will be held during flex on Monday May 22nd in White 27. Mr. Kareckas will be discussing feminism, his work as an activist, and how you can make a difference. If you are interested, please sign up with your flex advisor. Everyone is welcome!

-Creative Writing Club will not meet today

GUIDANCE:

Please stop by the Guidance Office and complete the Senior Information Survey!  Your transcript will need to be sent to your college or university and if you don’t inform your guidance counselor, your transcript won’t be sent in a timely manner.

 

Our VSAC Outreach Coordinator Monda Kelley, our resident expert on financial aid for college, will hold an information session on Paying for College on May 18th at 6:00 PM.  We will hold the session in the lecture hall at RHS.  This is a great program for parents of current juniors to attend to get a jumpstart on preparing to pay for college.

 

Seniors:
The Senior Calendar of Events has been emailed to you as of the end of day May 1st, and is attached to this email.  Please check this important listing of events.  There are copies available to pick up in the Guidance Office.

-Cap and Gown distribution is Friday, May 26 during the lunch periods outside the cafeteria.  Checks are to be made payable to BALFOUR CO. in the amount of $22.00.  After May 26, the cost is $24.00 and you can pick up your cap and gown in the Main Office.

Scholarships that are currently available from the Guidance Office:

-Due:  July 1, 2017

The Bill Belichick Foundation Scholarship is now available. This is a very worthwhile scholarship to apply for as the awards are $5,000.  The graduating Class of 2016 had two students who were recipients.
